Canada banned imports of all Russian aluminum and steel products on March 10 in an effort to undercut Russian revenues. Canada’s finance minister said the ban, which covers both finished and unfinished products, would affect imports of aluminium sheet, aluminium containers and steel pipes and pipes from Russia, among other products. Canada has imposed sanctions on more than 1,600 Russian individuals and entities and provided Ukraine with more than C $5 billion (US $3.6 billion) in financial, military and other aid since the conflict broke out. Canada’s move coincides with a similar ban in the United States.
